Fashion Week Spring/Summer 14 – Floral explosion!
From L-R Matthew Williamson, Christopher Kane, Burberry
With fashion week wrapping up in Paris this past week I couldn’t help but notice some rather significant trends appearing…
In London Matthew Williamson set the tone for spring/summer 2014 with accents of a coral and pink floral, with a key piece being a beautifully appliquéd pencil skirt very like the Kitty Ferreira Petal Skirt which features intricately appliquéd petals on a stunning floral background. Tone on tone ensembles featured throughout, creating a bold yet soothing palette of Mediterranean colours. The Kitty Ferreira collection uses only upcycled fabrics to make the ‘Petal’ Collection for Spring Summer 2014.
Floral prints were showcased across the board with Markus Lupfer presenting a collection filled with the coquettish, whimsical designs we know and love him for. Floral photograph patchwork printed silks took shape in the form of ruffle tiered mini-skirts whilst Christopher Bailey’s mirage for Spring/Summer 2014 showcased flowers, fragility and lightness.

Over in Paris Nina Ricci saw models take to the runway in ruffled and sheer chiffons, with glimpses of sheer fabrics and perfectly placed separates. Shirts and blouses were fastened to the neck and worn with fitted pencil skirts. Antonio Berardi played with chiffons, billowing silks, lace and organza again teaming floaty sheer blouses with fitted skirts and floral printed trousers.
Floral explosion, sheer chiffon and tonal hues are the key trends you should be showcasing in Spring/Summer 2014 and with the Kitty Ferreira collection exhibiting eclectic pieces in delicate fabrics they are a perfect edition to any stylish woman’s wardrobe!
